TORBUSTER™ – Submarine Anti-Torpedo Defence

TORBUSTER is a 4th generation decoy for submarines that is based on a novel approach, combining both soft and hard-kill capabilities. Upon detection of an incoming torpedo, the system is immediately launched from an external launcher, propels itself to a safe distance from the submarine and transmits a tailored response that seduces the torpedo. As the torpedo approaches, the decoy senses its location using an advanced proximity fuse and detonates its warhead when the torpedo reaches CPA, neutralising the threat.
Operating in all environments including shallow waters, TORBUSTER is managed by a single operator via a console that displays the scenario, proposed timing, pre-sets, inventory, modes of operation, and maintenance data. The lightweight external composite launcher – which has low TS characteristics – can be installed above or beneath the submarine as required.
